|Kitiera (Trish Morehead) is a second generation belly dancer and world dance artist based in Poulsbo, WA (Seattle Area). She has a diverse dance background spanning more than 20 years of devoted study and performance.
Kitiera is well-known for her signature stylization ModRomBelly Dance, which is a unique and dynamic fusion of Rom, Jazz, and Belly dance. She is a diverse and versatile performer whose emotional delivery and intricate choreography wow audiences all over the world. Kitiera performs a wide range of dance styles and modalities with precision, nuance, and intent.
Originally, Kitiera was inspired to dance in the Society for Creative Anachorism at a very young age. Kitiera’s formal dance training began under Phyllidia (Lexington, KY) in 1994. From 2006-2010, Kitiera spent her time in California studying intensively with legendary dance masters Suhaila and Jamila Salimpour. Kitiera is a former member of Suhaila’s performing companies, is SSBD (Suhaila) level 3 certified, JSBD (Jamila) level 2 certified, and also was an instructor at the SSBD studio in Albany, CA. In 2011, she completed an Anar Dana intensive study program directed by dance ethnologist Helene Eriksen.
Currently, Kitiera directs FORGE Dance Theatre and the ModRom Dance Collective. She teches weekly classes in Bremerton, WA and holds biannual workshop series in Seattle, WA. Kitiera tours nationally offering workshops and dance intensives. She is a sought after coach and private tutor. In addition to her own work, she is a member of, and contributing choreographer for, Fleurs d’Egypte Dance Company, based in Seattle. She continues her advanced level studies with Suhaila Salimpour and is a long distance member of Bal Anat.
Kitiera is also a musician, writer, poet, and visual artist. She has a secret passion for glamour makeup & photography.
